I am passionate about leadership, innovation, community and finance.
I love to build new things and have been involved innovations such as mobile payments, community based venture capital, entrepreneurship centres, social impact financing and measuring the financial wellness of Canadians. Today, I spend my time building a new kind of bank. One that embraces the changes taking place in finance and one that finds new ways to connect people with their money.
I have spent much of my career learning new things and have graduate degrees in business coupled with industry education in governance, risk management and innovation.
I believe that most business success today comes from deep partnerships and collaboration between people, communities, organizations and governments – all centered around purpose and a commitment to making a difference. I have been lucky to participate in some very creative partnerships and was part of a group recognized in 2019 with a Governor General of Canada Innovation Award – the first one ever awarded in Saskatchewan.
I have also been very fortunate to mentor almost 100 other business leaders and have received much more than I have given in that work. I am thrilled to have maintained many of these relationships over the past 20 years and continue to learn from and connect with those I have met through this work. Specifically in the last 5 years, I have focused on supporting and advocating for the growth of female leaders in finance and more broadly in business.
I enjoy commenting and presenting to business audiences across Canada and around the world on topics such as business strategy, innovation and leadership and have shared some of the feedback I received from those presentations below. I also frequently get the opportunity to speak to undergraduate and graduate students and I love the energy of being in the classroom engaging with tomorrow’s leaders.
When I am not tied up in my day job, I have served a number of organizations at the Board level including the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club, Concentra Bank and Economic Development Regina and have previously served the Filene Research Institute (a consumer finance think tank) and a few health foundations.
I am very lucky to be living my dream….
Random thoughts on money, leadership, strategy and community
I was totally inspired by Eric Dillon. The presentation on financial health was the most refreshing corporate initiative that I have seen in a long time.
All of our attendees shared they made a connection to what you presented, we can easily say you left behind an engaged audience committed to supporting Credit Unions in meeting their promises to members. You’ve been quoted in pretty much every call and meeting I’ve had this week with my team.
Your commitment to living the co-operative principles is demonstrated through your team’s work and the impact you have within your communities and beyond.
Probably one of the best keynote presentations I’ve heard in a long time. Hit on a lot of great things from how we manage staff, getting and building talent, recognizing our competitive advantages and thinking bigger. Bravo!
Thank you so much for the time you invested in our mentoring relationship. Your commitment to building leaders is truly incredible, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work together. Our discussions on coaching are already having a major impact for me and my Team and I am excited to continue to grow this skill.
No words will ever really be able articulate the importance and timing of the work I did with you. A year ago I was in a tough place. Today – I have so much more confidence and strength. Thanks again for saying yes – you make a difference!
I found Eric’s presentation to be the most beneficial and relevant. He very much made you realize how important it is to take charge of your own career and life for that matter.
I really want to thank you for our time together. I have learned so much about leadership, myself, the credit union system and innovation. I also want to thank you that we were able to explore not just professional but personal development as it was an area that I really wanted to work on and I appreciate that may not be typical in a mentoring relationship like this.
Eric Dillon was great! It was nice to listen to someone who actually offered you tools you can use on a day to day basis.
Eric provided great energy and motivation. If I didn’t already work for Conexus, I would be applying!
I really enjoyed the presentation from Eric Dillon. The Leadership presentation was very valuable and interesting. The perfect presentation to start the day!
Eric Dillon was the best presentation of the conference!
Eric is a very good speaker. He gave me lots to think about, lots of things to try in both my career and home life. I’m hoping to use some of his ideas to start conversations in my organization!
Enjoyed hearing the different perspectives of the panel members. Really enjoyed Eric from Canada – delivered with passion and provided a great session
Eric’s presentation had a very strong impact on me and my thought about furthering my career with the Credit Union system. I wish the leaders at my credit union could have been there to hear the things he had to say because he seems like a fabulous role model and mentor for everyone in the credit union
Eric was very good, engaging and informative. I enjoyed his talk immensely!
I just wanted to sincerely thank you for presenting. That was very inspiring and I enjoyed how you spoke in a way that was very relatable with everyday language. It was like we were listening to a leader’s inside voice that we might not otherwise get to hear! Very engaging and had a few chuckles too with expressions used. Thank you for that!
I thoroughly enjoyed Eric’s presentation. He had so many good points on leadership. I hope to bring back all those and apply each in my own life. I enjoyed how comfortable Eric makes you feel. He is very easy going and approachable. Eric’s presentation was wonderful — I could have listened all day!
Eric Dillon’s presentation on leadership, social intelligence/awareness was the best part of the conference!
The best part of the conference was listening to Eric Dillon. I had no more room to write when he was speaking. He offered more valuable information we can use daily at work.
I really enjoyed Eric Dillon’s speech the most. I was able to relate quite a bit to his topics and found it very useful. I thought that Eric’s presentation and exercises was really fantastic. It was great to hear the information and then have the opportunity to apply to our context.
I really enjoyed Eric Dillon’s presentation and how interactive he was throughout. I liked the fact that he talked with us instead of just presenting.
I enjoyed Eric Dillon’s presentation the most by far!
